PRESS RELEASE: Reaching Higher to Survey Educator Experience

May 21st, 2024

Concord, NH -- Reaching Higher NH, in partnership with Women Educators Leading Learning (WELL), has released a statewide survey for educators and school staff in order to better understand their experiences in the field. The data collected will be used to inform statewide conversations about how New Hampshire can support, recruit, and retain educators and school staff throughout the state.

Like other states, NH continues to experience challenges associated with recruiting and retaining educators in our communities and across our state, and in diversifying the profession at all levels. The Educator Climate Survey (ECS) will be open to all school staff, including teachers, district leaders, and school-based support staff, who worked in a PK-12 public or public charter school in New Hampshire during the 2023-2024 school year.

Last administered in 2022, respondents are asked a series of questions about their experience teaching in NH, partnerships with families and elected officials, and what they see as opportunities for strengthening and improving the public school system.

“One of the most essential investments our state can make in supporting our public schools is establishing and maintaining a strong, diverse, and supported teaching and learning profession,” said Nicole Heimarck, Reaching Higher NH’s Executive Director. “Understanding their experiences and the challenges they face is crucial to strengthening NH schools and ensuring that our students receive the best education possible.”

The survey will be open through the beginning of June and can be accessed at bit.ly/NH-ECS

Reaching Higher NH seeks the public’s help in getting the word out by sharing the survey.

The survey was co-developed with the Women Educators Leading Learning group, a network of current and former educators, school staff, and school leaders around New Hampshire to empower, connect, inspire, and celebrate women in the education profession. Survey co-sponsors include:
