Current Openings
Reaching Higher NH seeks an undergraduate or graduate Policy Intern to provide policy support services to the RHNH team over the summer. The intern will focus on research, data collection and analysis, literature reviews, and the collection/collation of information to support organizational summer projects. A principal area of focus will be building toward a definition/description of what constitutes a high-quality public education in New Hampshire.
The Summer Policy Intern will:

Conduct literature reviews and synthesize research on high-quality public education and related K - 12 policy topics (student outcomes, educational equity, fair funding and resourcing, school culture and climate, instructional quality and student experience, special education, and teacher quality).

Collect, clean, and analyze local and state education data; produce charts, tables, and clear data summaries.

Collate and organize policy documents, stakeholder feedback, and other background materials to support summer projects.

Monitor relevant state and national policy developments and keep the RHNH team informed of those developments.

Produce an outline and preliminary findings contributing to a working definition/description of high-quality public education (research brief, annotated bibliography, data brief, or similar product).

Support the RHNH team with ad hoc policy research and information requests as needed.

Contribute to an inclusive team culture and ensure research outputs reflect equity and accessibility considerations.
Desired Candidate Qualifications:

Current undergraduate or graduate student with an interest in education policy, public policy, or social impact

Coursework or academic exposure to education, public policy, sociology, political science, data analysis, or a related field

Strong writing skills and ability to summarize research clearly for different audiences

Basic comfort working with data (e.g., using Excel or Google Sheets to organize information; experience with charts or simple analysis is a plus but not required)

Ability to read and engage with research, reports, and policy materials

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

Curiosity, initiative, and willingness to learn in a fast-paced environment

Ability to work both independently and collaboratively

Strong interest in advancing NH’s public schools on behalf of students and families
Salary and Work Environment:
This is a part-time, hourly position working in a hybrid format up to 20 hours per week. Work will be primarily remote, with occasional in-office days in Concord, NH, as needed for events/meetings. The compensation range is $18-$22 per hour depending on experience and education.
Relationships:
This position reports to the Executive Director and works closely with the full RHNH team.
